Located 325km North of Brisbane, 52km South-West of Bundaberg and 36km from beautiful Woodgate Beach is the unique / historic town of Childers. Set in the rolling hills of red volcanic soil surrounded by cane fields and orchards the wide main street (Bruce Highway) is heritage listed and lined with shady mature Leopard trees.

The district boasts an ever expanding population in excess of 6000 residents. Childers is the central town with other population centres at the coastal town of Woodgate Beach, riverside Buxton and country communities Cordalba, Apple Tree Creek and Booyal to the North.

The town has two (2) Medical Centres, a Hospital, State and Catholic primary schools plus a High school. There are two (2) supermarkets Woolworths and IGA.

The main employment in the region is rural based with small crops, orchards and the sugar cane mill being the major employers.

Childers Multiculture Day - Once a year on the 31st July Childers comes alive with its Multicultural day, an event that attracts up to 50,000 people for a great day of entertainment and food from all over the world.
